Pam East’s Metal Clay Shrinkage Calculator is fast and easy to use. Simply select your chosen brand of clay, and then the specific clay you are using. The calculator will then be loaded with the average shrinkage rate for that clay.



The calculator can be used in two ways.

Unfired to Fired: Measure your unfired piece and select this option to find out how big the piece will be after firing

Fired to Unfired: Decide how big you want your finished piece to be, and then use this option to find out how big it needs to be before firing in order to shrink to size.



All calculations are based on Manufacturer published shrinkage rates. Where the manufacturer published a range, the average was used. Many factors can change shrinkage rates; including, but not limited to, size or thickness of the piece, firing temperature, hold times, and firing method. For these reasons, this tool is not exact, however it will get you very close!



The free Lite version of this software includes only .999 Fine Silver clays. It is not otherwise limited in any way. Use it as long as you like! The full version includes Sterling, Gold, Bronze, Copper and more. Almost 100 different clays! It is available as an in-app purchase.
